Greetings everyone and HAPPY TIDDLY TUESDAY!! Oh my goodness...I won't bore you with the drama and longevity of the crazy illness in our house but I'm happy to report we are FINALLY back in the real world and amongst the living!! LOL!
I simply HAD to take a little bloggy break due to all of the overlapping sickness and sheer busy-ness here in our house. So I'm thrilled to be back with this week's Tiddly Challenge which is to use clear acrylic somewhere on your creation. This could be a tag, an embellishment, a window, an acrylic album or even using Shrink Plastic would count!
Today I'm also super excited as Christy's brand new Sugar and Spice images are being released today. I've created with the Sugar image. But they are both totally gorgeous!!!
I started out by printing my image twice. Once on white cardstock and another time on the blue patterned Designer Paper which is from SU! I colored her first with my Copics and then paper pieced her dress. I used a fabulous technique, that's new to me, painting with pearlized water, Distress ink and Stickles. I learned this from Jennifer McGuire in her most recent Inspiration Showcase class. I used this technique on her wings, boots and bow. I had a total blast. If you've never done this, I highly recommend it! It adds such great shine and shimmer!
For the background of my card I used one of my very favorite TI Designer Papers. I printed it, trimmed it out to fit my card front and then sponged the edges with my Broken China Distress Ink. I then ran it through my Big Shot using a die from MFT to cut the tag shaped window. I sandwiched the acrylic between the DP and my card front. I then printed my image a third time enlarging it quite a bit in order to get the beautiful flying hearts large enough to cut out. I colored them in with my Copics and Sakura gel pens. I then trimmed them out and added them to my card front.
I used my new Tim Holtz rosette die, a couple of buttons and some hemp twine to create the matching embellishment you see in the lower right hand corner.
