Good Sunday afternoon!! I've been busy prepping for a kid's class that I'm teaching starting tomorrow, in addition to a number of other fun creations I've been working on I've also been itching to create and write about this beauty!! (hehe) I have submitted this for two different MFT challenges. This week's sketch challenge:
as well as this month's shot at guest designing for MFT!! The challenge for the Guest Spot for June is Blue Jeans and Bling. I had THE best time playing around with both of these challenges. I used American Crafts, Bazzill Basics, Berol Fine Art and SU! papers. I've used MFT's adorable PI - Making A List for my main image. Here is a snapshot of the entire set:
I stamped PI twice on my white stock, on dark navy confetti, and on the blue gingham check paper. I paper pieced her dress (and ran a cute line of stitching along the hem with my sewing machine), her sleeve - out of the gingham paper, and I colored her arms/hands holding her list and head and trimmed them out. That way they don't look disproportionate to the rest of her body. I took this cue from my darling friend Joanne in her paper piecing tutorial here.
I followed the sketch making it a square rather than rectangular (always works better for me as it gives me more room to groove with!). I didn't have any actual denim fabric on hand but I did have this great navy paper that reminds me of the dressy jeans that are only reserved for Saturday night date nights! For her dress, I used a paper nail file and scuffed it up a bit to make it look a tad more worn in. I couldn't help but adding the tiny bit of gingham on her sleeve.
I used my SU! tab punch to hold my external sentiment "With Love" using the Essential Sentiments set.
I used a jumbo blue and white striped canvas flower (pre-done) as my accent. I frayed the edges up a bit so it didn't look SO crisp and "shiny" out of the package. I also love that it works with the "worn in" look of her denim romper.
My interior uses the same papers laid out in a simple design. I used this cute self-adhesive Studio G label to mimic the look of the fabulous MFT Die-namics.
I had a blast creating today and I hope you have been inspired to play along!!!

Great card! love all the patterns and accents :-) so colorful!!! :-)
This card is just outstanding. Whoever gets it will be lucky. Good luck on your challenges.
OMG, this is sooo gorgeous, Meredith! Perfection, really. The colors and stitching is out of this word (especially that on her dress) and the paper piecing is wonderful. WOW on that flower. Yes, PERFECT! xxD
