I'll be the first to admit it. I am a pool JUNKIE!! My family and I joined a local swim club this summer...the place is FUN beyond FUN! And we've practically been there every day since they opened for the season. So when this challenge was issued I couldn't wait to hop on the summertime theme bandwagon!!!
I have already grabbed up the new and simply fabulous new summertime images however I've been wanting to use Sea Turtle for sometime now and this was a perfect excuse! My children LOVEEEEEEEEEE animals of all kinds but my son has a special affinity for turtles so I'm going to tuck this gem away for him when he does something really super special.
I started with a base of SU! Old Olive (one of my all time favorite standbys) followed by some new DP that I picked up at my local Michael's yesterday. The ivory paper with green circles is from the Passport Line from Making Memories and the textured ivory paper is from the 29th Street Market line from My Mind's Eye. The striped paper is the flipside of the textured ivory.
The sparkly wave is a border sticker that I trimmed in half, measuring at 6". The flowers are a fantastic find from Bride's Magazine brand that I picked up at Marshall's (yes!! Marshall's!!) they've started selling paper packs, mat stacks, embellishments...super cheap!!
Sea Turtle is colored with my Copics. The spots on his shell and his toes are coated in Crackle Glaze and the heart is coated in Diamond Glaze. I trimmed him out and set him aside. I then trimmed my layers and edged each layer with Tim Holtz distressing ink in Broken China.
I adhered everything together, added my embellishments and Sea Turtle.
I stamped Sea Turtle using Lawn Fawn's 'Harold's Alphabet'.
I hope you come and join the fun at Tiddly Inks with Challenge #12!!!
XOXO-
Meredith
