Smeared Ink - Altered Journal

I was seriously inspired. Hardcore. And I needed to let it out so I embarked upon this altered book journey and it brought me exactly what I needed creatively. Esoteric as that may sound...it did. The journal itself I purchased at The Art Guru in Gorham, ME. My hot spot for seriously great art supplies when I'm in ME.

The background papers are all Basic Grey - super grungy and dark. The wild clown paper (super creepy and I LOVE it) is from The Paper Source.

So I layered those and sat back...I then grabbed the chipboard gate that Kelli was so sweet to send in a recent package of goodies along with the gear on the left handside. I stamped 'don't be afraid' from the Carnies set down the middle of the book, over the adhered chipboard as a center border. I embellished the gate with my Hambly rub ons using the cross in the upper left hand side and an SU! jumbo rivet in the upper left.

I also used the parenthesis rub ons on the right hand side top and bottom for a little symmetry. There is a little bomb rub on on the bottom left under my relatively vintage (check out the cost on the James Dean stamp) stamp. It was my last one but I was thrilled to use it in this project.

The main snake man image from the Carnies set is colored with my Copics. He's trimmed out and placed 'just so'. I have this great Catwoman paper so I trimmed her out...she's one of my all time favorites and added her behind our Carnie...just for some extra depth and darkness.

This book definitely has me written all over it and speaks volumes to where my art is heading...and I'm really loving it.
Check out all of the awesome darkness and beauty at Smeared Ink!!!
Thank you again to Kelli for the awesome goodies that really made this project extra special.

Thanks for popping by =)
