Hey Y'all!! Welcome to another Robyn's Fetish Wacky Wednesday!!!
My image to play with today was the adorable Lyla!! I've been wanting to do a bookmark for a while now for my 5 year old daughter is learning to read longer and longer books!! So rather than teach her to "dog ear" a page like I always do I want to teach her to use a bookmark.
I had a piece of roughly 4x6 white lightweight cardboard that came out of a new pair of my daughter's tights this morning! Clearly, I threw it on my desk in passing KNOWING that I'd use it somehow.
Sure enough...I almost immediately had my chance! I covered this with a pretty yellow cardstock that I had ordered one sheet of as a sample long ago. I trimmed it down and rounded the corners as the original piece had been. I then trimmed out a dandelion from this new Deja Views paper that I picked up at Michael's last week. I trimmed it to fit quietly in the corner.
I've been wanting to do a yellow and grey card for a while now and just didn't quite have the right DP. But this was it!! YAY!
I then trimmed grey cardstock to measure roughly 1/4" down from the previous matte and I went down approximately 1/2" when I made Lyla's panel.
I colored Lyla in super cute grey jeans with a little blingidy pocket...Grey Jeans were so fab in the 80's!! (note to self...I need to start a hunt for vintage or repro grey jeans!!!)
But I digress!! =) (it happens a lot!)
Her shirt is colored in a couple of different Copic yellows. Her pants were done with my Prismacolor markers and her hair with my Marvy "Le Plume" pens. I used the teeny, tiny end to color each strand. I also added a few little blonde highlights. That's how my 5 year old's hair is naturally...lucky girl!! =)
I then stitched the 2 front panels together and added a rub on sentiment from SU! 'just because'.
I used my SU! slot punch to create a notch in the top where I tied silver, wired ribbon (hence the curling) and black leather cord.
I LOVE how simple this is. It's not like me to make something this simple but in this case...less is more!!
Don't forget to head on over to Robyn's Challenge Blog and get your WW Freebie!! And PLEASE play along and have fun!!!
As always the image is only available as a free download until we release the next Wacky Wednesday Freebie, after that it will only be available through the store HERE.
Thanks for visiting!! Have fun playing along!!
XOXO
