This week's challenge was a sketch challenge!! I love them because they can be interpreted in thousands of different ways!!
Here's the sketch that we were given:
I've had this fantastic Mini Sweets Set for some time now and haven't had a chance to ink it up! I was so excited to open it!
I pulled most of this from my scrap drawer (I'm trying to do that a lot more these days). And started laying pieces out on my magnetic mat. (love that thing!!) I wanted to mix it up a bit and stamp on designer paper - which I normally wouldn't do. I was trying to be adventurous and I used DP at my card base - which I also normally wouldn't do.
I've always thought that it distracts from the image but even though I was doing it as an experiment, I was thrilled with the turnout. I think it compliments the set nicely!!! So I used the DP to stamp the sweets set in chocolate brown and I - what else - heat set it!! I colored the delicious treats using my sparkly Sakura gel pens. I matted the entire panel and zig zag stitched in chocolate brown thread.
I LOVE the pink, yellow, and brown together!!! The colors themselves are simply yummy as are the sweet treats represented on this card!!!
My second panel - where the sentiments are is pink cardstock matted on butterfly DP. I ran my gold pigment ink pad around the edges of the pink cardstock to give it some dimension. I stamped, embossed and sewed together using a straight stitch.
I used silver embossing powder for the word 'sweet' =) Just thought it needed a little POP!
The two flowers are from an old SU! Simply Scrappin' kit. I threaded buttons with ribbon and adhered them all on and finally used ric rac to tie around the entire panel. I then adhered it to the DP card base. Besides the awesome stamps used in this card my second favorite thing about this card is the interior panel!! There was JUST enough of this paper left (the top half was used on the front of this card - the sweets are stamped on it!) to create this super cool interior to write your message!! The nice thing also is that the cupcake paper is very sturdy whereas the card base was a *little* flimsy so this gave it some extra support =)
I'm so glad you hopped by today!! Please hop onwards to see what Linda has cooked up for you today!!!
